SMALL GROUP STUDY
We have ten people signed up for Small group study. We will be studying Jonah! Written by seminary professor Dr. Reed Lessing, this in-depth study follows Jonah on his journey of faith and reveals at the same time some very Lenten concepts that guide us on our journey with Jesus on the way to the cross. The first gathering will be on Friday, February 24th at 7 pm at Pastor Edwards’ home.

Greetings! We at Zion Lutheran Church are always delighted to welcome visitors, whether you are a life-long Lutheran looking for a church home, investigating Christianity for the first time, or somewhere in between. Below are a few common questions. For more information, feel free to email Pastor Edwards at pastor@zionauburn.com
What can I expect when I arrive?
You’ll be greeted as you come in and handed one of
our worship bulletins, which will assist you with participating in the worship service.
As you take a seat, you’ll notice in the pew backs our hymnal, Lutheran Worship,
which we use for our liturgy (order of service) and hymns. Pastor Edwards will greet
the congregation, and will not ask you to stand up or introduce yourself.
The service itself is liturgical and reverent. If this is new to you, you may prefer to sit in the back of the sanctuary and observe. Follow what others are doing and the aids in your worship folder. All of our music is piano or organ-led and intended for congregational singing; feel free to sing or not as you feel comfortable.
How should I dress?
There is no dress code; an appropriate sense of modesty and decorum
is desirable, since God is personally present among us in our worship. Some express
their reverence by dressing more formally; others, intending no irreverence, dress
more casually. Wear what you feel is comfortable and appropriate.
May I receive Holy Communion?
We believe that in the celebration of Holy Communion
(also known as the Lord’s Supper or the Eucharist) our Lord’s true body and blood
are mysteriously present in, with, and under the bread and wine, and that in our
mouths we receive His very body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins. We invite
baptized, repentant members of the Body of Christ who share our Lutheran confession
to share our table.
If you are uncertain about receiving Communion, you are encouraged to speak with Pastor Edwards.
